Wide Mahogany Wooden Serving Spoon

Originally designed as a “rice spoon” this heavy duty wooden spatula is up for any mixing, scooping or serving challenge without scratching your pots. Its large, deep bowl makes it the perfect tool to scoop and transfer large amounts of peas, cauliflower or rice from a bowl to a plate. It has been carved from the highest quality mahogany wood and buffed in 4 cycles for natural matt luster using only natural wax. With some care, it will last a lifetime and just get better looking with age.

This spoon has been hand carved from mahogany wood by Jaydeep S. / India.

The finer the wood grain, the better …

When the artisan finally gets to a small enough chunk thats workable, he sketches a pattern of the spoon on the wood, then begins to refine the shape until its done and finally buffs 4x with wax-oil finish.

We recommend cleaning your spoons with soap and warm water. After the washing is done, rub the spoon with a towel to prevent moisture entering the wood which will avoid cracking. Occasionally, oil them with natural coconut oil (or olive oil, peanut or sunflower oil) using a paper towel or a piece of cloth.
We do not recommend using a dishwasher for any wood, as the drying cycle dehydrates wood too rapidly which can cause it to crack, and cleaning agents will age the surface of the wood.
