Raku Spice Spoon

$25.00

Each of these gorgeous spoons express the individuality of the artist’s hands. Stunning effects, such as the crackling and the copper contrasts seen on these spoons are all achieved through an old japanese technique Raku. This spoon can be hung on the edge of a salt shaker, spice container or a cup. You can also use it while dining, as a stylish (yet practical) salt and pepper holder or for little nibbles. No two pieces are alike.

Ewelina’s S. is a polish artist who is a master of an old japanese technique called RAKU. Raku is a process in which objects are taken from the kiln while still red hot, and placed within a pile of combustible material such as hay, sawdust or paper to cool and smolder. Stunning effects, such as the crackling and the copper contrasts seen on these spoons are all achieved through this unique style of firing.

“My Ceramics brought me to Slovakia … and it’s my home now”

Originally from Poland, Ewelina claims that her “favorite drug” is an old Japanese technique called Raku, which connects human hands with the force of elements.
